The event was organised by the Indian Ministry of Culture and the International Buddhist Association.
Representatives of various Buddhist schools from India, China, Korea, Vietnam and other countries, scientists, politicians, cultural and artistic figures will take part in the forum. The Russian delegation is represented by the head of the council of the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists Geshe Yonten, Did Khambo Lama Tsyren Dondukbaev, advisor to the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research Oleg Vavilov, representatives of the Russian Buddhist sangha and the scientific community.
Chairman of the Central Buddhist Spiritual Administration Geshe Yonten raised important topics during his speech:
«Buddhists in Russia are working to adapt the programs of Buddhist monastic universities to the standards of higher education in the Russian Federation. Buddhist school in Russia has existed for a long time and successfully, but Buddhology is not identical to Buddhism.
Also it is important to work on the introduction of modern technologies in the dissemination of Buddhist teachings. We must use all the resources available to us: social networks, Internet, artificial intelligence and neural networks, and so on, in order to convey to people the ideas of compassion, non-violence, to set the right moral guidelines in order to strengthen traditional spiritual and moral values in society».
After the speech Geshe Yontan invited all to take part in the International Buddhist Forum in Kalmykia in 2025.
