Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists

The Central Religious Organization, CSAB, was established in 2004 and serves as a centralized religious organization that voluntarily unites Buddhist religious organizations operating within the territory of Russian Federation.

About Us

CSAB acts as a coordinating and consolidating body for religious organizations that adhere to the traditions of the main Buddhist schools and practices.

Members of CSAB

Currently, the members of CSAB include various local Buddhist religious organizations registered in Kalmykia, Buryatia, Moscow, the Moscow region, and other regions of the Russian Federation.

Company management

The Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists is the Venerable Geshe Yonten.

Geshe Yonten Lodoy (Sergey Vladimirovich Kirishov) was born in Kalmykia, holds the rank of Gelong (the highest level of monastic ordination), and received his monastic education in India at the Drepung Gomang Buddhist Monastery-University.

In 2018, he was appointed Administrator of the Central Khurul of the Republic of Kalmykia, known as the “Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” From 2019 until January 2024, he headed the administration of this Khurul.

In October 2023, he was awarded the title of Geshe at the Drepung Gomang Monastery in India.

Geshe Yonten is a Member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Public Chamber of the Republic of Kalmykia, as well as a member of the Council of the Moscow Buddhist Community.

Lhabab Duchen celebration

On November 22, Buddhist Temple "Tubden Shedubling" in Moscow celebrated Buddha’s Descent from the Tushita Heaven. On this special day for Buddhists, His Excellency Vinay Kumar, the Ambassador of India in Russian Federation, visited the temple and congratulated all Buddhists on the occasion.

CSTO meeting

On November 13, a roundtable discussion on the topic "Interfaith Dialogue as a Means of Strengthening Collective Security" was held at the Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretariat, timed to coincide with Kyrgyzstan's Day of Information and Press.

Asian Buddhist forum

The 1st Asian Buddhist Forum opened in New Delhi on November 5. The event was organised by the Indian Ministry of Culture and the International Buddhist Association.
